Why am I not receiving Slack notifications?

In this article we will cover:

Things to check

There are some reasons as to why you might not be receiving notifications.

Slack workspace

When you set up your Slack workspace you can select which workspace you would like to use. To check this you can go the Apps page and find the Slack integration, then click view preferences. This will show you the name of the workspace and the channel the notifications are being posted to.

Slack channel

When setting up your Slack workspace you have to select a Slack channel to post notifications to. To check this you can go the Apps page and find the Slack integration, then click view preferences. This will show you the name of the workspace and the channel the notifications are being posted to.

Make sure you and your teammates have access to that channel in Slack.

Check that this channel has not been deleted since connecting with Continually.

Notification preferences

You can see your notification preferences to see what notifications you should be receiving. Make sure you have each of the notifications ticked and saved in your preferences.

What Slack notifications can you receive

We use Slack to notify you of different kinds of activity with your bot. We also use it to notify you of any new live chat messages. To find out more about live chat and how to turn live chat on click here

Here are the different kinds of notifications you can receive in Slack:

New lead

This notification is triggered when your Continually bot captures a new lead email.

New appointment

This notification is triggered when a customer books an appointment through your bot.

Anonymous lead

This notification is triggered when a new customers uses your bot. The reason it is an anonymous lead and not a "new lead" is because the email has not yet been captured.

Note: Anonymous lead notifications are disabled by default, you will need to go to your Slack preferences and enable it. Read the section below to find out how.

Live chat

You can receive notifications for any live chat messages your customers send.

Note: You cannot control your notifications for live chat in the notifications section, it can only be disabled by turning off live chat.

Control your slack notifications

  1. You can control your settings by going to the Apps page.
  2. Finding your connected Slack app and clicking View preferences.
  3. Then selecting which notifications you want to receive and saving it.
